This hotel was once a real palace and it still holds that magnificent energy and the building structure. The impressive main entrance, over 1km long beach makes you stand in awe. The hotel is the ownership of Abu Dhabi government, but it is under Kempinski management. It was the most expensive hotel that was ever built before Marina Bay Sands in opened. It has over 1000 Swarovski chandeliers, 2000 employees, 33 kitchens and over 400 rooms and suits.
The famous hotel is really all about luxury, gold, opulence but it is also about my favorite beverage in the world, which is coffee. Cappucino in “Le Café” coffee bar comes sprinkled with flakes of 24-Carat gold. This pleasure will costs you $15. The cappuccino was pure gold, both metaphorically and literally. With an edible gold leaf, this delight isn’t like the one you drink at your favorite local barista. He might be able to make a palace-shape dusted in chocolate on top of the froth, but not with a generous sprinkling of gold leaf. This is not something you can have every day or something you should have every day, so why not indulge when you are here? You can also try gold sprinkled french fries.
After this, if you aren’t in the gold overload mode, you can always swing by lobby to check out the crazy “Gold to Go” vending machine and maybe take a few gold bars back home as a souvenir. Don’t be afraid if the guard approaches you to assist you with your purchase. You can chose from variety of gold bars in 1, 5 and 10 gram sizes. You can also get some gift boxes of maple leaf, krugerrand or kangaroo gold coins. Machine has online connection so every 10 minutes it will update the prices on inter national markets, so don’t worry. Your money is safe. You won’t over-pay.
This time, I didn’t have the pleasure to look inside the Emirates Palace Room, but the lobby, Le Café bar and the beautiful restaurant view made quite an impression.
